today i was looking though my sketch/memory book-for lack of a better term-its a book where i keep thoughts, drawings, sketches and poems and lyrics and beautiful memories. Anyway, I found two poems I had forgot about and I kinda like em' they haven't been edited, not even by me, so they're just raw thought, and pretty shaky, but they are me, my thoughts. The dates are from July 2010 so a while ago, but still neat.
What My Mother Used (modeled after a similar poem by some guy..)
She used her stroller
to cart us around,
her playmates.
Exedrin to keep her alert
with a shovel in the
dirt, on her face.
It never really got
on her face,
The tomatoes did. Everywhere.
She used the wooden spoon
too.
To stir the salsa, to threaten
our behinds.
She used vaseline, or told us to
use it. Straight out of the
shower.
She used ambien. To fall asleep
while dad snored, and I
got caught kissing boys
in her sleep.
Lets Not Lie
Lets not lie
and say I love you
or claim a stake and say
i own you.
Lets not lie
real close, our breathing easy
and fall sasleep, first you
then me.
Lets not lie
awake at night and plan
the day you tell me, you're
my man
Lets not lie
we never told the truth
lie upon lie you built me a home, to beautiful
to fall, to delicate to last.
Lie upon lie I swallowed and
licked my lips
happy to lie for you love.
Lets not lie
and tell them we were happy
you played your game
and got your fill
and once again I played along
and lost.
Lets not lie.
where do i come up with this stuff? maybe someday Ill fix em up.
I think you should. The second one would make great song lyrics.
